Vice-President of the Board
Born and raised on the New Jersey shore, Richard Pine began his professional career teaching high school English after attending the University of Miami, Florida and graduating from Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He continued his education at Seton Hall University, earning a master’s degree.
During college and teaching duties, he worked in college radio and commercial radio on the Jersey shore.
In 1981 he made a career change, moving his family to Andover, New Hampshire to pursue a career in the building material industry. His duties included sales, purchasing and public relations for R.P. Johnson & Son, a two-outlet retail building material supply company. During this time he also founded a construction waste recycling business in New Hampshire.
While living in Andover, Richard served on the Andover School Board and the Andover Town Budge Committee.
In 1998 he was offered a position with Georgia Pacific Corporation, at that time the largest building material distributor in North America. He moved his family to Powder Springs, Georgia in 1999 and worked as an account manager and specialty lumber purchaser. In 2000 Georgia Pacific named him Employee of the Quarter for top sales in the corporation. In that same year he was named to the Vice President’s Round Table, one of 31 employees selected nationally from as sales force of 1,000+. He continued to work for Georgia Pacific until 2007. Richard has also served as VP for Sales for Unique Cleaning Service in Marietta, a commercial janitorial service provider throughout the U.S. For the last five years he has been semi-retired and working for the Wyndham Hotel Group in Sandy Springs, GA.
Richard is the father of two children – Laura Ahern of Marietta and David Pine of Powder Springs — and one grandchild. He and his wife of 39 years, Ellen, reside in Powder Springs.
In his spare time, Richard is an avid golfer, enjoys traveling with his wife, loves tending a small vegetable garden, enjoys reading and is a model shipwright. He and his wife have founded a ministry for shut-ins and bringing Christ’s word to those unable to attend church.
As a past educator, Richard strongly believes in providing educational opportunities that will enrich lives and help student recipients contribute back into their society and culture.
