J. Todd Watkins is the Founder of the Pan-American College Fund and also serves as the Philanthropic Advisor. Todd is a retired Officer and Pilot from the U.S. Army. Todd received his associate’s degree in aviation management from the Community College of the Air Force. He received his Undergraduate (BA) degree in Communications from Mercer University. He holds a MBA from Kennesaw State University and is currently in the dissertation phase of his Doctorate in Nonprofit Leadership from Liberty University. Todd’s research focuses on the link between Board hiring practices and Nonprofit failure rates.
Todd continued his education by attending such programs as Philanthropy University at the Berkeley Haas School of Business located at the University of California. Todd earned a Certificate from the Haas School of Business in “Social Sector Leadership.” Courses in this program include, “Essentials of Non-Profit Strategy,” “Global Social Entrepreneurship,” “Financial Modeling for the Social Sector,” and “Fundraising.” Todd also holds the CAP (Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy) designation from The American College. The CAP is a master’s level curriculum and includes courses such as “Planning for Philanthropic Impact,” “Charitable Giving Strategies” and “Gift Planning in the Nonprofit Sector.”
Todd holds both the AIF (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) and AIFA (Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst) designations. This allows Todd to provide oversight for staff spending and to monitor the organizations third-party investment managers (Atl Global Advisors) for the Pan-American College Fund. Todd is licensed to provide donors a guarantee that the organizations assets are used as promised. Finally, Todd is a Registered Investment Advisor with the SEC and holds his Series 7, Series 66, and Series 65 licenses.
